What the number represents
The result is not simply the factory electricity divided by output. It depends on the chosen unit and boundary, the processes included, data quality, treatment of co-products and recycling, and the lifecycle stages relevant to the intended use.
ISO 14067 addresses the climate-change impact category. It allows a full or partial product carbon footprint, but the report must make the selected boundary and limitations clear. Offsetting is outside the quantification itself.

Where primary data changes the answer
Plant energy, fuel, process yields, scrap, recipes, bill-of-materials data, and actual logistics can distinguish one product or production route from an industry average. Supplier-specific data can improve the model further when its boundary and quality are compatible.
We record where secondary datasets or proxies are used so the business can prioritise the data improvements that would materially change confidence in the result.

How is a product carbon footprint different from a corporate carbon footprint?

Can a product footprint be cradle-to-gate?
Yes. ISO 14067 provides for partial product carbon footprints, which can cover selected lifecycle stages such as cradle-to-gate. The boundary, omitted stages, intended use, and limitations must be reported clearly.
Does ISO 14067 include carbon offsets?
ISO 14067 quantifies emissions and removals within the product system and treats climate change as the single impact category. Carbon offsetting is outside the scope of the product-footprint quantification.
Can Prakrti certify a product carbon footprint?
Prakrti develops the calculation, documentation, and evidence trail. Where a customer or programme requires independent verification or an EPD, that review or declaration is completed by the relevant approved external body.
